Hot-melt adhesives, hot-melt powders or hotmelt are thermoplastic polymers based on various chemical raw materials. The starting product for DTF transfer is usually available in powder or granulate form, in various µm thicknesses (micrometers). DTF transfer printing usually uses granules with a thickness of 80-200 µm. When exposed to temperature, the product turns into a viscous liquid – this is also referred to as “gelling”.
Base polymers determine the actual properties of a product, such as adhesion (adhesion), cohesion (product stability) and temperature behavior. For a hot melt adhesive to work, further additives are required to enable functionality and / or to achieve other special properties, such as resins for tackiness, phthalic acid esters as plasticizers, amines or phenols as stabilizers. How a hotmelt adhesive bonds to the textile substrate with the DTF inks used (or in the gelled state) depends on the formulation of the product.
Processing:
The hot-melt adhesive can be applied manually or by machine.
Suitable parameters for the further processing of a finished DTF film depend on various factors, such as the selected print settings & settings, the inks, hotmelt adhesives and films used or the textile substrate on which the transfer is to be placed.
Finished transfers, which are transferred to natural fibers, are usually processed from 140°C. With synthetic fibers, a transfer is usually transferred at an upper temperature of 130°C in order to reduce the risk of a possible heat transfer. reduce migration.

Your contacts in System Sales are Bernard (team leader), Maria, Benjamin and Nico (from left to right)
The entire team is available to provide you with expert advice or a needs analysis when it comes to purchasing a new or additional printing system.
Based on your requirements (what is to be printed, how high are the order volumes, etc.), we check together with you and advise you individually and goal-oriented to find the right printing system for you.
The team colleagues are also available to make an appointment for a demo in the Ottersweier showroom if you would like to get to know the systems in live operation.
