DTF transfer printing is a digital printing process that has revolutionized textile finishing. DTF stands for “Direct-to-Film”, as the motif is first printed onto a transfer foil, a DTF transfer film. The printed film is then sprinkled with a hot-melt adhesive, DTF transfer powder, and gelled to ensure long-term adhesion to the printed objects. The finished DTF transfer is then pressed onto the product to be printed.
In principle, anything that can be pressed can be printed with DTF. DTF has now become the standard in textile printing, as it enables high-quality prints with virtually no limits. Textiles made from a wide variety of fabrics can be finished with a suitable hot melt adhesive with the right adhesion spectrum.

Any design (CMYK+W) is printed on the DTF film – regardless of whether you are working with a format printing system or a web press. This creates the first precise print layout for your individual design. Depending on your requirements, you can use a format or roll printing system – both variants deliver the best results.
Immediately after printing the design, the DTF film is sprinkled with a powdered hot-melt adhesive, the DTF transfer powder. This is then gelled onto the motif under the influence of heat. The adhesive forms a homogeneous layer that enables strong adhesion to a wide variety of textiles during subsequent processing.
Depending on the printing system (format printing or roll printing), the printed film is rolled up and cut into compact transfer sheets. The motifs are now fully prepared and ready for the next step, pressing onto the final product.
In the final step, you place the finished DTF transfer on the desired textile. It is applied with heat and pressure using a transfer press, and then simply peel it off and: your professional textile print with brilliant colors and strong durability is ready.
