UV inks are special inks that have been developed for use in UV printing systems. They contain photoinitiators that cure under UV light and thus enable rapid drying.
A distinction is made between hard and flexible UV inks, each of which can be applied to different surfaces (hard substrates such as ABS, wood, aluminum panels, acrylic, PVC, cardboard and glass, or flexible materials such as membrane keyboards, films (self-adhesive, backlit, transparent, tarpaulins or interiors).
In UV printing, special visual and tactile effects can be achieved with the printable UV varnish. If the paint coat is dried immediately, a glossy finish is achieved; if the curing of the paint coat is delayed, the optical impression of a matt finish is created.
