What is UV printing?

UV direct printing involves printing directly onto the intended substrate (plastic, metal, etc.) – inks are available in various formulations for different requirements for the respective substrate.
The specially formulated UV inks are cured during the printing process using UV LED technology so that the products are ready for further processing or dispatch immediately after printing.

While hard UV inks are generally used for printing promotional items, an ink with flexible properties is suitable for the production of membrane keyboards, for example. can be embossed or debossed.

The inks can be applied in several layers (multilayer), allowing optical and haptic effects (e.g. Braille) to be realized.
Almost all materials can be printed on using UV direct printing technology.

There is no minimum number of pieces. Small series can be implemented in a very short time.

Wide range of possibilities

Highly detailed and color-intensive motifs with breathtaking special effects can be realized on a wide range of materials, such as wood, leather and plastic.

All-in-one process

Gloss, semi-gloss and matt varnish effects can be created in one printing process combining CMYK + varnish or white + varnish. The result is a significant increase in productivity as well as a minimized risk of dust contamination in the glossy printing areas.

Ink loading

UV direct printing systems can be equipped with inks for rigid or flexible substrates.

How does UV printing work?

Step 1: Create print job

With UV printing, any motif is printed directly onto the item using 6 colors (CMYK+W+varnish). Image files in common formats can be used. With the VerteLith™ RIP software, print jobs can be created and processed effortlessly, and multi-layer applications can also be implemented.

Step 2: Print

The motif is printed directly onto the surface of the substrate and cured directly (while the print job is still being produced) using UV LED light.
UV technology also makes it possible to implement special effects such as spot varnish, decorative varnish, lenticular printing, texture or embossing effects.

Step 3: Done!

The printed object can be processed directly. If an object does not fit into the UV printer for certain reasons, the UV-DTF process can be used.
