New General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) from December 13, 2024: What you need to bear in mind
From December 13, 2024, the new General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) will come into force, replacing the previous Product Safety Directive in the EU. The GPSR brings with it stricter requirements in terms of product conformity and consumer information.
Our declaration of conformity is sufficient for the resale of our printing blanks. However, if the blanks are further processed and sold, additional requirements apply, as the processor then acts as the manufacturer of a new product. For this purpose, we have developed templates to assist you in implementing the new requirements.
Adaptation of our conformity documents
Due to the new product safety requirements and the increased responsibility of importers and distributors, we are currently working on creating detailed risk assessments and improved document storage. As we have many articles in our range, complying with these requirements for risk assessments and structured filing is a challenge.
As a result, our original deadline for completion of the new conformity documents has been postponed from November 1. to November 25. This affects all articles that are subject to the new directives.
Note for Amazon requirements: You can continue to use our current declarations of conformity for Amazon requirements. These documents comply with the current legal requirements. For instructions for use and safety instructions for your products, you can use our completion templates as an example.
Fill-in templates for your products
We have created helpful templates to help you implement the new requirements. These have been developed as a basis to make it easier for you to meet the requirements for your products. If you are interested, please contact info@printequipment.de. We will then be happy to send you the templates.
However, please check carefully whether these templates exactly match your specific product. If you are unsure about individual points, we recommend that you consult an expert legal advisor for clarification to ensure that all legal requirements are met correctly.
New requirements for shipping labels
Additional requirements for packaging will apply from December 13, 2024. However, these will only apply to items that are newly introduced to the EU market from this date. We will therefore gradually adapt our shipping labels to the new regulations over the course of the coming year.
Please note that articles that have already been placed on the market will continue to be supplied without additional labeling. The new requirements only apply to future market launches, so existing stocks will continue to comply with the previous standards.
The new General Product Safety Regulation entails extensive adjustments, which we will implement as smoothly as possible. We are committed to completing all steps quickly and carefully so that you have access to all the necessary compliance documents and updated packaging.
